Point of Light

Unit 001

Hand-sewn bead on painted surface

Foundational Work — Not for Sale

Available for institutional exhibition or private dialogue by request.

How to reveal light when image has reached its limit?

This work begins from the black square, from the place once declared the limit of image — the threshold where depiction was thought to end. Yet the limit of image is not the limit of action.

Into that black field enters not another image, and not an ornament, but a material intervention: one bead sewn into the painted surface. The field does not need to be transformed in order for the work to change. Visually, it remains almost the same, yet from the moment the bead enters it, the work is no longer only image.

What is introduced here is presence. The bead does not illustrate light; it reveals that light remains possible where image seemed to have reached its end. In this sense, the work does not continue representation, but moves beyond it.

This is why the gesture matters. A hand enters the field and performs a real act. What appears is not a depiction of light, but the moment in which light is opened through action and reality returns to the work.

The black square may have marked the limit of image. It did not mark the limit of art. Where image reached its limit, action remained possible.

This work is not decoration. It is not an extension of the image. It is the point at which the work passes beyond image and presence becomes inseparable from the Unit.

Here begins Bead Impact Art.
