I didn’t come to this point quickly. It took me almost 30 years. Silence and presence are not depicted. They are placed into the surface. This work does not represent. It marks.

A matte field of warm buff remains open and undisturbed until a single light bead is sewn into its surface. Not added. Not placed. Not composed. Inserted. The act does not announce itself. It does not seek attention.
It does not need to be seen. Yet from this moment, the surface is no longer neutral.
It holds the act. Silence here is not absence. It is a condition in which presence remains
without the need to appear.

Nothing is shown.
Nothing is declared.

Yet something irreversible has occurred.
