Silence I

The purpose of this Unit is to establish silence as a condition in which light can be revealed and presence can remain.

Silence is not emptiness.

It is a condition of attention.

In this Unit, one bead enters an unchanged field through one precise act.

The image does not develop.
The field does not transform.
Nothing is added to explain the work.

Yet the bead goes beyond the image and reveals light.

This Unit is the first work in the Silence series.

Each work is complete in itself, yet all three are connected by one principle: one bead sewn into an unchanged field through a precise human act.

The bead remains the same as an act.

Only its position changes.

In Silence I, the condition is established.

The surface remains still.
The bead remains precise.
The act remains.

The purpose is not depicted as an image.

It is fulfilled through one bead, one position, and one material act.

Presence opens through the act and remains within the stillness of the Unit.

This work opens the first movement of the series — the moment where one act enters the field and establishes the condition in which light can be revealed.

Silence is not shown.

It is held through the Unit.
