THE BEAD

The bead was not chosen because of its appearance. It was chosen because its material properties create a unique structure for action.

It is the material point through which a real human act is fixed in matter.

— One bead corresponds to one completed act.

— Attaching one bead creates a distinct interval of action. It is enough for a person to make a conscious decision, perform the action, and fix it in matter.

— The bead retains its form after the action. It does not dissolve into the image like a brushstroke or disappear like a temporary gesture.

— The bead allows action to accumulate. One bead may remain one. A second bead becomes a second act. A third bead becomes a third act.

— Every act remains individually visible. Accumulation does not become an indistinct process.

— The action may stop at any moment: after one bead, after ten, or after one thousand.

— The action may continue through time: after a minute, a year, ten years, or throughout an entire lifetime.

— On the same material carrier, the action may continue without a predetermined limit: bead after bead, decision after decision, presence after presence.

— Within Bead Impact Art, the bead fixes the act, preserves it, and allows it to continue.

— The bead can enter different material carriers. Canvas, textile, clothing, skin, accessories, objects, and other surfaces can receive a bead while preserving the essential structure of the method: action, fixation, interruption, continuation, accumulation, and the individual visibility of each act.

— The bead is difficult to erase completely. Even when it is removed or covered, a puncture, relief, or another material trace may remain.

— Painting is only one beginning. Bead Impact Art can extend beyond painting while preserving the same structure of action.

For this reason, a needle, a pencil, a brush, or another object cannot fulfil the same role. They may participate in an action, but they do not provide the same structure: completed acts, repeatability, accumulation, the individual visibility of every act, material fixation, and the possibility of continuation through time.
