III. FAMILY AND LINEAGE

To Preserve and Transmit Action Across Generations

Family and Lineage is the Door through which a Unit becomes a shared material field within a family.

A Unit may begin with one person and continue through children, parents, grandparents, siblings and future generations. Each person enters the same field through their own real action and leaves an individual material trace within it.

The actions do not disappear into a collective whole. Each remains connected to the person and the moment in which it was performed.

A Family and Lineage Unit may be created during one gathering, return at significant moments in family life, continue over many years, or be passed from one generation to another.

A child may add an act beside a parent. A grandparent may leave an act for those who come after. Years later, another generation may enter the same Unit and continue it.

What is transmitted is therefore not only an object.

It is a field that already carries the real actions of the people who came before and remains open to the actions of those who follow.

A photograph can preserve the image of a family.

A Unit preserves something different: the fact that these people actually acted within the same material field.

Each new bead adds another real moment to its history. Over time, the Unit may become a material record of a family — not through portraits, names or representations, but through accumulated human acts.

The Unit can remain after the people who began it and continue in the hands of the next generation. Earlier actions are not replaced. New actions enter beside them.

Family and Lineage does not depict continuity across generations.

The family itself creates that continuity through action.
