Unit 001 — Point of Light
Unit 001 — Point of Light
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
What happens when the image reaches its limit, but action remains possible?
This Unit begins from the black square—from the place once understood as the limit of image, the threshold where depiction was thought to end. Yet the limit of image is not the limit of action. Into the black field enters not another image, not an ornament, and not a visual explanation, but one sewn black bead.
The bead is black. It does not illustrate light or imitate it, nor does it become light through colour. It becomes visible because it is matter, and matter can be seen only because light is already present. One black bead is enough to reveal this. This is why the Unit is called Point of Light.
Not because light is painted. Not because the bead becomes a white mark against darkness. But because one black bead reveals that even within black, light is present.
The surface does not need to be visually transformed for the Unit to go beyond image. Visually, it remains almost the same. But from the moment the black bead enters the black surface, the Unit is no longer only an image. It holds an act—an act that reveals light and through which presence opens.
Light is infinite not because it is painted. Light is infinite because, without light, even black matter could not be seen. This is the statement revealed by one bead.
This is why the gesture matters: a hand enters the field, performs a real material act, and leaves behind not a depiction, but a bead through which light and presence are revealed.
The black square may have marked the limit of image. It did not mark the limit of art. It did not mark the limit of light. Where image reached its limit, action remained possible. Where black seemed to close the field, one bead opened it.
This Unit is not decoration. It is not an extension of the image. It is not a symbolic detail.
It is the first Unit of Bead Impact Art—the point where one bead went beyond the image, revealed light, and established a new field.
Here begins Bead Impact Art.
